課程概述

生物地球化學循環和全球環境及氣候變遷之間的聯繫是怎樣的？這種聯繫在地球的歷史中如何變化，將來又會如何影響地球的未來？

What is the link between biogeochemical cycles and global changes in environment and climate? How does it evolve in the earth's history, and how will it shape our future?  

課程目標
 本課程每週以一個生物化學循環的主要課題為中心，結合一半課堂教授和一半書報討論，對每週課題的基本知識、經典研究、和前沿課題進行教授和討論。討論課題包含以下幾個主要方面：
1. 地球早期生命和生物地球化學循環
2. 陸地生物地球化學循環
3. 海洋生物地球化學循環
4. 全球碳循環
5. 全球氮、磷循環
6. 全球氧、硫循環
7. 生物地球化學循環與未來全球環境、氣候變遷

This course will combine lecture and student presentation/discussion each week to cover one topic in the subject of biogeochemical cycles. The lecture will cover the basic concepts and methods in this field, and the discussion will focus on selected classic and/or frontier question. The general topics will include the following aspects:
1. The early history of life on earth and the biogeochemical cycles
2. Biogeochemical cycles on land
3. Biogeochemical cycles in the ocean
4. Global carbon cycle
5. Global nitrogen and phosphorous cycles
6. Global oxygen and sulfur cycles
7. Biogeochemical cycles and future changes 
課程要求
 簡報20%，討論20%，期末口試30%，學期論文30%
